1) Why did you choose this particular recreation and how does it link to your main production?
We choose this particular section from the James Bond franchise 'Casino Royale' because the angle seen of the mirror was interesting, and could be utilised in our final production. Also, it is relevant to our critical investigation because my partner's topic is James Bond and so using a James Bond sequence would be right. Also, we were able to practice filming dialogue which would be integral in our final production.
2) What difficulties did you face in producing this recreation?
2) What difficulties did you face in producing this recreation?
The main difficulty that we faced was the reliability of our cast. Next time we should give ample time for our actors to prepare, and not to make asking people to act too last minute. Also, should try to be more adventurous in terms of the setting. This is because our recreation was just shot in the school toilets.
3) What are the strengths of the production?
3) What are the strengths of the production?
The recreation was faithful to the original scene. We were able to shoot off the mirror successfully, without the camera being seen. Majority of the editing was natural and faithful to the original.
4) What aspects would you look to improve?
4) What aspects would you look to improve?
We could improve the editing aspect of our recreation. There is a part where the dialogue doesn't feel as fluid and natural. Also, we could improve the quality of the audio to make the dialogue to be heard.
5) What lessons will you take from this process that will help you with your main production?
5) What lessons will you take from this process that will help you with your main production?
The lessons that we will take from this is to organise actors and to make sure that they are committed to acting in our production. Also, we have learnt to choose setting. Choosing places where it would look more professional, as well as settings that are well lit. Also, we should pay more attention to detail in terms of props and the subtle gestures in the acting.
6) Now that you are ready to start your actual linked production, explain clearly what you will be creating and how confident you are in delivering this.
For our final production, Ryan and I plan to create a scene from from a spy film genre that is set in the future. We will have a female lead in order to challenge the representation of women in the spy film genre. As it is set in the future, we will create a dystopian representation of Earth, this will link our final piece to the science fiction genre. The scene that we are going to create is still undecided but, we have the fundamental ideas down. We are most likely going to keep the cast small so that we don't have to rely on many actors committing.
